Our aim is to help combat loneliness and use music to promote wellbeing so despite not being able to meet in person we can still meet virtually!
Over the next couple of weeks we will be building on the number of virtual events that you can join as and when you want to all you will need to do is:
- Check out our timetable of events (on the right)
- Decide which event you would like to join
- Ping us an email with the event as subject and we will reply with a link
The link will take you to Zoom at which point you will have to:
- Download Zoom software onto your desktop, laptop or tablet (unless you already have it) The software is FREE
- Make a nice cuppa
- Click on the link again 5-10 mins before your event. Please note that you will not be able to join the meeting until the host does
If you are wanting to support this project and future events and are able to make a donation then it would be greatly received. This can be done 4 ways:
- Buy us a virtual cup of coffee
- Join our mailing list
- Support our lunchtime concert artists by downloading their music and/or buying their merchandise
- Make a donation to our Go Fund Me page
Details of Lunchtime Concerts will be posted soon
There is no perfect system that allows us to play and sing along together BUT we have found Zoom to be the most effective as you are able to mute yourself so that you only hear the teacher to play/sing along with. So you really can sing like no one is listening!
Lunchtime Concerts: Streamed live via YouTube join us for a lunchtime rest-bite wether you are working from home, home schooling or in self isolation. We will have some of our favourite ukulele artists performing some of their greatest hits!
Over 60s: Strum/Sing along for those that already play who are over 60 years old!
Beginner Ukulele: For all ages looking to get started on this great little instrument. Obviously you will need a ukulele for this but we will provide you with all the learning materials you need in a fun and engaging way.
Toddler Group: For under 5s and their parents this will include a sing-along and a group chat, opportunity to share your story at the end. Being a parent is the most rewarding, amazing thing but it can be incredibly lonely so we are here to support you through this time that you are unable to socialise with your babies. (obviously chat is totally optional!)
Beginner Kids Ukulele: aimed at 3-6 year olds. You will need a ukulele for this and a tuner or a good ear. We also recommend a pick for delicate thumbs.
Intermediate Kids Ukulele: for kids that can already play a varied number of ukulele chords. Come and learn popular songs including Billie Eilish, Stormzy!
How to: Our how to sessions may vary but to begin we will offer How to Melody – looking at scales, using TAB learn to play well known tunes. No need to be able to read music. How to: Pass Grade 1 ukulele – looking at London College of Music’s Grade 1. Help learning the pieces, preparing for your on-line exam, tips and tricks. You will need to purchase a book on-line for this.
